Harlow & Stamford

Next Saturday 11th February we make our first visit to Stamford.

By Road
Make your way to the M11 northbound. Continue to the end of the motorway (about 50 miles) and join the A14 towards Peterborough. After 16 miles join the A1(M) at junction 14, still heading for Peterborough, Continue to Junction 17 (about 11 miles), and then join the A1 towards Grantham. After 9½  miles take second exit off roundabout on to B1081 (Old Great North Road) towards Stamford. In 1¼ miles turn left on to A43 (Kettering Road), and then first right into Wothorpe Road.
There is some on-site parking.

By Public Transport

By Victoria Line to Kings Cross. Take Great North East Railway train to Peterborough (departs on the hour), and arrive at Peterborough after 46 minutes. Then join Central train towards Birmingham (leaves Peterborough at 56 minutes past the hour) for the 12 minute journey to Stamford. The Station is adjacent to the Ground.
Trains return from Stamford on the hour, and there are departures for Kings Cross from Peterborough at 17.36 and 17.48.
Return fare from Kings Cross is £28.00.
On Wednesday 15th February we visit Harlow Town, kick-off 7.45pm.

By Road
Make your way to the M11 northbound, and exit at Junction 7. Take the A414 into Harlow taking the 2nd exit at the first roundabout, and the first exit at the 2nd roundabout into Second Avenue (A1025). Go straight on at two roundabouts and at the 3rd roundabout take the 2nd exit into Velizy Avenue (dual carriageway). Go straight on at first roundabout, and at second roundabout take 2nd exit into Hammarskjold Road. Take the first right into the car park.

Victoria Line to Tottenham Hale, then One Railway to Harlow (departures about every 15 minutes to Harlow). Journey time from Tottenham Hale 25-30 minutes. Ground is about a mile from the Station. Trains return at 09, 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. A cheap day return from Walthamstow Central costs £8.10.

On The Road: Boreham Wood and Sittingbourne

From M25 Junction 23 head South on the A1, or from the A406 and the M1 Junction 2 head north on the A1.
At the Boreham Wood exit take the A5135 westbound. At the 3rd Roundabout (Fire & Ambulance Station on the left, take the 2nd exit into Brook Road, then the first right into Broughinge Road. Ground is on the right.

By Public Transport

From Kings Cross Thameslink trains leave at 8, 23, 38 and 53 minutes past each hour to Elstree & Borehamwood. The journey time is 24 minutes. Trains return at 8, 23, 38 and 53 minutes past the hour. Day return fare is £5.20. Turn right from station and take bus 107 or 292 eastbound to Brook Road roundabout or about 20 minute walk.
On Tuesday 31st January we visit Sittingbourne.

By Road

Take M25 to Dartford River Crossing (or A12 to Blackwall Tunnel), and then A2 to Sittingbourne. Enter the one way system at the Railway Station and take the 3rd exit past the Fire Station, turn left at the traffic lights. Turn right at the next roundabout into Eurolink Way and follow the road round to roundabout. Take 3rd exit  into Stadium Way. The Ground is directly ahead. Turn left after passing through main gates, ground is past the barrier and down the slope.

By Public Transport

Victoria Line to Victoria. Then South East Trains to Sittingbourne at 17.09, 17.27 and 17.49. Journey time from Victoria is just over one hour. Sittingboune Station is located in St Michaels Road. Turn left from station and then in 1/3 mile turn left into Crown Quay Lane. At next roundabout take 3rd exit into Eurolink Way. In 1/3 mile take slight left into Castle Road. In 200 yards turn right into Dolphin Road, and in 1/3 mile turn left into Church Road. Ground is on the right.
Fast trains return from Sittingbourne at 21.55, 22.47 and 22.58.

Cheap Day return fare from Victoria is £13.90 and £16.50 from Walthamstow Central

By Road

 
From the A406 take the junction with the A13 towards Tilbury and Southend. Go over the bridge then under the new underpass which was recently where a flyover existed. At the roundabout under the next flyover take the second exit towards Becontree (A1153) which is Lodge Avenue. Continue along Lodge Avenue, through the lights, over the bridge, and take the first exit at the mini roundabout. The ground is about 700 yards on the left.

By District Line or Rail to Barking, then bus 368 (every 12 minutes towards Chadwell Heath) which passes the ground. Or bus 5 or 87 (every 5-7 minutes towards Becontree) to Robin Hood Public House. Cross Longbridge Road and walk down Lodge Avenue. Ground is on the right.
 
Then on Wednesday 7th December we visit Stanway Rovers in the Fourth Round of the Essex Senior Cup, kick-off 7.45pm.
 
Stanway Rovers play at Hawthorns, New Farm Road, Stanway, which is on the west side of Colchester. Telephone 01206-578187.
 

By Road

 
Either make your way to the M25 and head towards Dartford, joining the A12 towards Chelmsford at Junction 28, or take the A406 to Redbridge and join the A12 eastbound. Continue on the A12 for about 35 ½ miles from the M25 to the outskirts of Colchester and follow the signs for the Zoo and Stanway onto the A1124 Essex Yeomanry Way (dual carriageway) for about ¼ mile. Take 2nd exit off roundabout into London Road (still the A1124), and then turn right at mini roundabout into Villa Road. Take the first left into Chapel Road and second left into New Farm Road, ground is 400 yards on the left.

From Walthamstow Central to Liverpool Street where you can catch a One Railway train to Marks Tey – trains leave at 16.45, 17.02, 17.08 and 17.38 (journey times around 50 minutes from Liverpool Street). The 16.45 connects with Bus 70 at 17.45, the next bus is at 18.35 to the London Road, junction with King Coel Road. Cross over to New Farm Road and ground is on the right.
 
On return take  Bus 65 from London Road (the stop that you got off from) at 22.07 to Colchester Station. There is a train at 22.29 to Liverpool Street arriving 23.34 (calls at Stratford at 23.25). There is a later train at 23.03.
