SFL REVIEW

By Gerard Butler of www.pyramidfootball.co.uk

Fisher Athletic (London) are promoted, although not guaranteed the title, following a 2-1 home win over East Thurrock United. Anthony Riviere put the hosts in front after just two minutes, but Vinnie John levelled for the visitors in the 37th minute. Steve Watts scored what proved to be the winner just before the break from the spot. Maldon Town have a game in hand and could still win the league, helping their cause with a 3-1 victory at Aveley, but trailing when Kevin Marsden's 45th minute goal put the hosts ahead. Simon Parker's brace after 50 and 58 minutes tipped the game in Town's favour and Tommy Noble wrapped it up with 77 minutes played. Uxbridge still entertain hopes of a top two finish as they defeated Waltham Forest 3-1. Alan Cox had put the visitors ahead on 34 minutes, but Mark Nicholls' 52nd minute goal levelled it, and they were ahead through Nicholls' penalty, six minutes later. Stuart Lake ensured victory with an 87th minute goal. The confirmed play-off line up includes Barking & East Ham United, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by struggling Sittingbourne. Ryan Quincey had put the hosts in front after 48 minutes, but Bradley Spice's 64th minute spot-kick saw the points shared. Wivenhoe Town complete the top six, and are in the play-offs, having booked their place before a 3-2 home loss to Boreham Wood. Leon Archer got Wood off to the perfect start in the third minute; it was two six minutes later through Michael Black and Chris Watters goal meant the game was all but won after just 17 minutes. However, Town rallied through Tabani Mabvura in the 27th minute and Paul Abrahams on 62 minutes, but couldn't find the elusive equaliser.

Former top six challengers Barton Rovers slipped to a 2-0 reverse at Chatham Town through Brendan Cass on the half-hour and Israel Amadi after 50 minutes, whilst Leighton Town fell to a 1-0 loss at Harlow Town; Marc Salmon's goal after an hour proving enough for the Hawks. Mid table rivals Arlesey Town and Beaconsfield SYCOB shared a 1-1 draw as Liam Harrold put Town in front with 33 minutes played, but Adrian Sear levelled for the visitors in the 78th minute. Dartford, who are closing the season well, beat relegated Tilbury 6-2. Craig McGuire scored the first inside the opening minute, although Paul Cobb equalised after five minutes. A quickfire brace by Ryan Hayes in the 31st and 32nd minutes put the Darts in charge, and they were 4-1 up with 39 minutes played, through Tostao Kwashi. The goals continued to flow after the interval as Cobb's 70th minute goal got it back to 4-2, but Steve Hafner and Eddie McClements scored in the last ten minutes for a comfortable margin of victory. Berkhamsted Town overcame their off-the-field problems with an impressive 3-0 home triumph against Wingate & Finchley. Leon Hibbert got the first on 22 minutes, and within two minutes, it was 2-0, through Rob Hughes. Steve Groves' 78th minute goal capped it. The fight to avoid the second relegation place is between Great Wakering Rovers, who currently occupy it, and Erith & Belvedere, who are just above them. Rovers won 2-1 at Erith on Saturday, and after looking doomed, can move closer to safety if they win their game in hand. Mark Hampshire put the visitors 1-0 up just after the break, and Ross Parmenter added another in the 68th minute, meaning Richard Usherwood's 84th minute goal was too little, too late.
